Every month, the SED provides a microloan with an amount of almost one million THB to support a local entrepreneur. In August 2020, the SED in cooperation with Kiva lent microloans to local woman entrepreneurs with diverse occupations such as rearing a silkworm, feeding cattle, rearing a rice-field rat, weaving Thai silk, sewing a bedspread, selling fruits, selling rice noodles (Kha-nom-jeen), etc. These entrepreneurs have been a member of village banks in their villages who have a concrete occupation and operated the business continuously.
Monitoring the Village Bank by the Whole Planet Foundation (WPF)
February 2018, Claire Kelly, Regional Director, Asia monitored the Village Banks (VB), funded by the WPF, in Surin and Buriram provinces as well as provided technical assistance for the SED.
